This Privacy Policy explains how Local Lens Content collects, uses, and shares information about you.
1. INTRODUCTION
Local Lens Content LLC ("Local Lens," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information about you when you use the Local Lens platform ("Platform") accessible at locallenscontent.com.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Platform including businesses and brands ("Businesses"), content creators ("Creators"), and general visitors to our website.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Platform you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy you must not use the Platform.
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Platform Terms of Service.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information in the following ways:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
Account Registration Information: When you create an Account on the Platform we collect:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Password (stored in encrypted form — we never store plain text passwords)
- Account type (Business or Creator)
Business Profile Information: When you register as a Business we additionally collect:
- Business or brand name
- Business website URL
- Social media handles (Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms)
- Industry or business type
- Billing information (processed and stored by Stripe — we do not store full payment card details). A payment method is retained on file to process staged payments, including deposits and balances, as described in the Business/Client Terms of Service.
Creator Profile Information: When you apply as a Creator we additionally collect:
- Location (city)
- Short biography
- Content specialties
- Primary platforms
- Years of content creation experience
- Portfolio samples (images and video files)
- Payment information for Creator payouts (processed via our payment provider)
- Tax information including W-9 form data for Creators earning $600 or more annually
Brief Submission Information: When a Business submits a content Brief we collect:
- Brand description and identity information
- Content goals and platform preferences
- Budget range and timeline
- Creative direction and reference materials
- Usage rights requirements
- Any uploaded brand guideline documents or reference files
- Additional notes provided by the Business
Pitch and Concept Information: When a Creator submits a pitch or concept we collect:
- Pitch description text
- Estimated delivery date
- Mood board images and reference files uploaded by the Creator
Content Submissions: When a Creator submits content deliverables we collect:
- Video files (MP4, MOV)
- Photo files (JPG, PNG)
- Creator notes accompanying the submission
Communications: When you communicate through the Platform's messaging features we collect:
- Messages sent between Businesses and the Local Lens team
- Messages sent between Creators and the Local Lens team
- Feedback submitted on content or concepts
- Notes and comments left on projects
Reviews and Ratings: When you submit a review or rating we collect:
- Star ratings across multiple categories
- Written review text
- Whether you would recommend Local Lens
- Your permission to feature the review publicly
Support Communications: When you contact us for support or with questions we collect:
- Your name and email address
- The content of your message
- Any attachments you provide
Model and Location Release Information: When Content features an identifiable individual or private property, the Creator obtains a signed release from that individual or property owner, which may include:
- Full legal name, address, and phone number or email address of the individual appearing in the Content
- Business name, address, and authorized signer information for any private property or location used
Local Lens may receive copies of these releases from Creators upon request and retains them as needed to verify compliance with our content policies and respond to legal claims. Individuals who provide a release are not Platform Users and do not have a Local Lens Account; their information is used solely for the purposes described in the release itself.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit or use the Platform we automatically collect certain technical information including:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type and version
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the Platform, clicks and interactions
- Log Data: IP address, access times, referring URLs, error logs
- Session Information: Authentication tokens used to keep you logged in
- Cookie Data: As described in our Cookie Policy at locallenscontent.com/legal/cookies
2.3 Information From Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third parties including:
- Stripe: Payment confirmation, transaction status, and fraud signals related to your payment activity on the Platform
- Supabase: Authentication and session management data
- Email Delivery Providers: Delivery status and basic engagement data for transactional emails we send to you
We do not purchase personal data from data brokers or third-party marketing lists.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
3.1 Providing and Operating the Platform
- Creating and managing your Account
- Matching Businesses with appropriate Creators based on project requirements
- Facilitating content Brief submissions and project management
- Processing payments and Creator payouts
- Delivering completed content to Businesses
- Managing the project timeline and communication flow between parties
- Sending transactional emails and in-app notifications related to your projects
3.2 Platform Administration
- Reviewing Creator applications and assigning Creator tiers
- Moderating content submissions for quality and compliance
- Managing disputes and resolving platform issues
- Maintaining audit logs for security and accountability purposes
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
3.3 Communications
- Sending you transactional emails related to your Account and projects
- Notifying you of project status updates, approvals, and required actions
- Responding to your support requests and inquiries
- Sending you important updates about the Platform or changes to our policies
We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent. If you opt in to marketing communications you may opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at hello@locallenscontent.com.
3.4 Platform Improvement
- Analyzing usage patterns to improve Platform features and user experience
- Identifying and fixing bugs and technical issues
- Developing new features and services based on user behavior and feedback
- Conducting internal research and analysis
3.5 Legal and Compliance
- Complying with applicable laws and regulations including tax reporting obligations
- Responding to lawful requests from government or law enforcement authorities
- Enforcing our Terms of Service and other platform policies
- Protecting the rights, property, and safety of Local Lens, our users, and the public
- Issuing 1099-NEC tax forms to qualifying Creators as required by the Internal Revenue Service
3.6 Business Operations
- Processing and recording financial transactions
- Maintaining business records as required by law
- Evaluating and improving Creator tier placement and graduation criteria
- Calculating and displaying performance metrics to Creators and admins
4. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide you with the services you have requested and fulfill our contractual obligations to you
- Legitimate Interests: Processing necessary for our legitimate business interests including fraud prevention, platform security, and service improvement, where those interests are not overridden by your privacy rights
- Legal Obligation: Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations including tax reporting
- Consent: Processing based on your explicit consent, including for non-essential cookies and marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time
5. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
5.1 Within the Platform
Between Businesses and Local Lens: Businesses' Brief details, feedback, and project communications are visible to the Local Lens administrative team for the purpose of managing projects and facilitating content creation.
Between Creators and Local Lens: Creators' profiles, portfolio samples, pitch submissions, and content deliverables are visible to the Local Lens administrative team for the purpose of application review, project assignment, quality review, and tier management.
Creator Anonymity: Creators' real names, email addresses, and personal contact information are never shared with Businesses. Businesses interact with Creators only through their auto-generated platform alias. Similarly, Business names and identifying information are not shared with Creators until a project is formally matched and only to the extent necessary for content creation.
Public Profile Information: Approved Creators' aliases, locations, content specialties, tier badges, and portfolio samples are displayed publicly on the Browse Creators page to authenticated Business users. This information is visible to logged-in Business users and, in anonymized form, to general visitors to the Platform.
Reviews: Approved reviews submitted by Businesses may be displayed publicly on the Platform homepage and marketing materials where you have given permission for such use. Reviews are attributed to a business type descriptor (e.g. "Chicago Coffee Shop") and never to a named individual or business.
5.2 Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as directed by us and in accordance with this Privacy Policy:

5.4 Business Transfers
If Local Lens is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or other business transfer, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us your explicit consent to do so.

Strictly Necessary Cookies: These cookies are essential for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled. They include session cookies that keep you logged in and security cookies that protect your Account. These cookies do not require your consent.

7. DATA RETENTION
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide you with the Platform services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, subject to the following:
- Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your Account remains active
- Inactive Accounts: Accounts with no activity for 24 months may be subject to deletion following notice to your registered email address
- Transaction Records: Financial records including payment history and tax documents are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years as required by applicable tax law
- Legal Holds: We may retain certain data longer than the periods above where required by law or where necessary to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or comply with legal obligations
- Deleted Accounts: Following Account deletion we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, subject to our legal retention obligations
8. DATA SECURITY
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
- Encryption at Rest: All data stored in our database is encrypted at rest
- Row Level Security: Our database implements Row Level Security policies that ensure users can only access data they are authorized to view
- Secure Authentication: We use industry-standard authentication protocols including secure password hashing and session management
- Payment Security: Payment card data is processed exclusively by Stripe and never stored on our servers. Stripe maintains PCI DSS Level 1 compliance — the highest available standard for payment security
- Access Controls: Access to user data within Local Lens is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis
- Regular Security Reviews: We conduct periodic reviews of our security practices and infrastructure
While we implement these measures, no security system is completely impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

9. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on your location you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
9.1 Rights Available to All Users
Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We will respond to verified access requests within 30 days.
Right to Correction: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information. You can update most of your Account information directly through your dashboard settings.
Right to Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information subject to our legal retention obligations. To request deletion contact hello@locallenscontent.com. Note that certain information may be retained as required by law including transaction records and tax documents.
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we process your information based on your consent you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.
Right to Opt Out of Marketing: You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting hello@locallenscontent.com.
9.2 Additional Rights for California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident you have the following additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:
Right to Know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell about you.
Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected about you subject to certain exceptions.
Right to Correct: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law. You do not need to opt out because we do not engage in this activity.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your California privacy rights.
How to Submit a California Privacy Request: Email hello@locallenscontent.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request" and describe the right you wish to exercise. We will respond within 45 days as required by law.
9.3 Additional Rights for EEA, UK, and Swiss Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland you have the following additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
Right to Restrict Processing: You have the right to request that we restrict processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.
Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and to transmit that data to another controller where technically feasible.
Right to Object: You have the right to object to processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis.
Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with applicable law.
Data Controller Information: Local Lens Content LLC is the data controller for personal data collected through the Platform.

We will verify your identity before processing any request. We will respond to all verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law. We do not charge a fee for reasonable requests but reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee or decline requests that are excessive or repetitive.
10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Platform is not directed to or intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. This restriction also extends to any individual who appears in Content produced through the Platform: our Creator Agreement prohibits Creators from featuring any individual under 18 in Content under any circumstances, whether as a primary subject or incidentally. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, or appears in Content submitted through the Platform, please contact us immediately at hello@locallenscontent.com and we will take steps to delete such information and remove the Content.
11. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Local Lens is based in the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the United States please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers and service providers are located.
By using the Platform you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. We implement appropriate safeguards for international data transfers in accordance with applicable law including standard contractual clauses where required.
12. THIRD PARTY LINKS AND SERVICES
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit. Local Lens is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites.
13. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes we will:
- Post the updated Privacy Policy on the Platform with a new "Last Updated" date
- Notify you by email to your registered email address at least 14 days before material changes take effect
- Display a prominent notice on the Platform
Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of the updated Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated Privacy Policy you must stop using the Platform before the changes take effect.
